Beers, Barbies, and beautiful Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses

Don’t be in a hurry to dust off those little black dresses for the Xmas function this year, you’ll be better off in your comfy jeans.  We have it on good authority that this year, most employees will be treated to a beer and a barbie at the boss’ place.

You will of course need to strike the right pose while turning the snaggers, and we have the timeless beauty of Oliver Goldsmith sunglasses, to help you do just that.

Twenty years after OG sunglasses ceased production, Oliver Goldsmith’s great-grand-daughter Claire Goldsmith has resurrected this iconic British sunglass brand to rapturous international reception.  Synonymous with style icons, such as Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn and iconoclasts like John Lennon, Oliver Goldsmith is the only sunglass designer to feature at the Victoria and Albert museum, London.  Learn more about this significant episode of fashion history at olivergoldsmith.com.

We have also had a peek at Claire Goldsmith’s new range of optical frames, which will be available exclusively at MHPE early next year.  Can’t wait…Claire, we may not be sailing around the Auckland harbour in your sunnies this summer, but we like the cut of your gib.

MHPE - Our New Look

Welcome to our new look.  For those of you who know us as The Eye Site, we’re still the same team but with a new name and a new look shop and website.  We wanted an image that says what we do: Independent service and truly boutique eyewear by artisan eyewear designers.

We have had so much fun working with Richard Kerby and his team at Auckland’s Met Design and thank them for designing us a new logo, shop and website that we are truly proud of.  We also want to thank our good friend, photographer Jessie Casson, who has produced some wonderful images of us and the shop.

More of these will appear throughout this blog, which will be an irregular update of new products and services, events and promotions.

We may be no Charles and Ray Eames but the inspiration for this group photo came from them.  The Eameses believed that great design could improve people’s lives and we think the same is true of great eyewear.
