Glasses of the Week: Designing Disney

Mr Osman Baig is an architect currently working on the massive project of Disney's theme park in China. This huge task takes a lot of engineering, and Osman's glasses need to be in perfect condition for working without any issues of vision or fit. This Bevel frame in a matte black / polished black combination fits the bill. It is refined, modern and minimalist.

Introducing Optometrist Grace Elliott

We welcome a second optometrist, Grace Elliott to our team.

We are delighted that Grace has taken a full time position at Michael Holmes
Premium Eyewear where she will be working between both the Teed St and
High St practices.

This may come as great news to many of you who have, over the past few months,
found it difficult to get a booking with Michael. Grace has a special interest in
ocular disease and children’s vision but she will be responsible for all aspects of
eye care including assessment of clarity of vision, binocularity, fitting of spectacle
and contact lenses and the monitoring and treatment of eye disease, for which
she is qualified to prescribe ocular medication.

Grace also has a passion for design so patients will be able to benefit from her
keen eye when it comes to selecting frames and lenses. Like Michael, Grace is
keen to ensure the patient receives a holistic approach to their eye care, which
extends beyond the testing room and ensures that those needing prescription
glasses receive the best advice possible.

Norum Nomination!

The NORUM sunglass by Oliver Goldsmith has been nominated by Optician Magazine for their annual Optician Awards in the category of Frame of the Year!

We have featured this amazing design, originally from 1958, before. It is truly unique, with beveled acetate at the edges that creates a translucency and an oversized almost butterfly-shaped frame which flatters and commands attention.

Congratulations to Oliver Goldsmith & Claire Goldsmith, just to be nominated is a win in our eyes :)

Fingers crossed for the big day!

Seeing Double

Iain Archer's new frames courtesy of Claire Goldsmith and Oliver Goldsmith demonstrate how a design can really change your look. Both of these models were orginally sunglasses that we fitted with optical lenses, and they suit Iain perfectly. On the left is a double-bridge design from Claire Goldsmith, and on the right a vintage-inspired sunglass from Claire's great grandfather, Oliver Goldsmith. Both designed in Notting Hill and handmade in Italy.

Iain has designed clothing for many companies and now focuses on fashion lecturing, so his innate sense of style helped in choosing these two fantastic different looks. We love how these sunglass frames look as opticals!

Glasses of the Week: Double Trouble

Jerry Bordeleau and Filip Sala are two stylish German dudes. Here they are looking great in their new Garrett Leight frames - Filip is already an owner of another Garrett Leight sunglass model which he loves. He brought his friend Jerry in to see the range at our High Street store, and both walked out with something special.
